“India should not be seen as a country of Billion People but should be seen a country of Billion Minds”
Star Cast: Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte, Sonam Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan (Cameo)
Director: R Balki
Above line said by none other than Amitabh Bachchan in movie is well said just because of real life Indian superhero Arunachalam Muruganantham who showed the world that what an ordinary person can achieve with sheer determination, focused goal, love and honesty in heart. You really got to read about him.
What is Good?
When a movie is made from the heart and with a cause, it is bound to touch the hearts and so did PADMAN.
R. Balki managed to shuffle the immensely significant issue and humour without crossing any line. Well, if that was not enough, our bollywood superhero Akki who can perform flying kick to flying kiss perfectly, spreads his magic wand all over again making us fall in love with his character one more time.
His natural acting, innocence in face and honesty at work when mixed with light hearted comedy can create a pleasant movie experience on even most sensitive issue in the world.
His ten minutes final speech with his patented English called Linglish, in United Nation Seminar must be awarded as “Speech of the Year”. What a terrific performance with so logical dialogues that you feel like enjoying a lecture.
There comes the lead actress Radhika Apte who is known for realistic characters as much as her crying scene in Kabali :-). She beautifully portrays the role of small town daughter-in-law who would prefer to die than be alive with shamless act of her husband. Sonam Kapoor in supportive role is true to her real life character who is known for fashion.
Special credit to lyricists and music composer Amit Trivedi for such beautiful lyrics and music in all the songs. I am still humming “आज से मेरी सारी खुशियाँ तेरी हो गयीं…”
At last, thanks to Twinkle Khanna for producing the movie on much needed topic in India. Statistics of access to such a basic need by half of the population will really make you question about Shining India, Digital India, Make In India and What not in India 🙁
What is not so Good?
R. Balki experiment to add little flavor of work romance between Akshay and Sonam Kapoor did not go well. It was odd chemistry which could have been easily avoided.
